The Benefits of Using HVO
Thermo King has given its approval for HVO use in all its products powered by diesel fuel. For instance, this renewable fuel is used in its truck and trailer refrigeration units and auxiliary power unit lines. HVO is a fuel made of raw materials that don’t send any carbon dioxide into the air. This makes it an environmentally friendly, convenient alternative for fleets large, small, and in-between!
Another benefit of HVO is it’s a suitable replacement for diesel fuel and can combine with it without requiring changes in the design of a traditional engine. Plus, using HVO doesn’t result in additional maintenance checks.
Expanding the Use of HVO
When it comes to using HVO, Thermo King is ahead of the game. Since 2021, the company has approved the use of this renewable fuel in its trucks and trailers across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Furthermore, HVO is in the testing stage at its manufacturer in Galway, Ireland and is being used in the Americas, as well.
A Commitment to Helping the Environment
Thermo King is dedicated to decreasing its environmental footprint by employing innovative products like HVO. As an example, Thermo King was ‘…the first in the industry to transition to lower global warming potential R-452A refrigerant as standard in its trailer (January 2022) and truck units (December 2022).’(HDT Truckinginfo article, October 2022)
Lastly, Thermo King continues to focus on the goal of changing to all-electric and hybrid units while making meaningful environmentally friendly adjustments along the way.
